TL:DR

I made a love letter within a love letter... but I didn't mean too.

Dear Good Hours.

If you have a life, a family, a small, tentative grasp on your own sanity - please just disregard this message…

I know that sounds enticing, like some reverse psychology click-baiting bullshit but really. Fuck. Really…

After putting the shop back together, I thought a quick Shop Tour might be a cool idea, however… however…

My Love Letter to Good Hours is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

I did a tour one morning, a coffee in my hands, and as I watched / tried to edit what I’d done, it was a shit job. No notes, no mojo. I watched it all so you didn’t have to. The other side of it is what happened - I got home from a long day in the OR - I poured myself a bourbon (Four Roses for the record) and I just wandered out there to shoot… basically unfiltered.

So I deleted the “coffee fueled” video and decided to work with the “bourbon fueled” video. I’m a little loose, more than a little forgetful, way more than a little unscripted.

It’s horrible and open all at the same time. If you watch it in the evening, feel free to make it a drinking game. Take a shot every time I call something my favorite and finish your drink every time I say “absolute favorite.”

As I edited it, I just found something so endearing about this middle aged dude, who was so in love with the space he was working in, he couldn’t help but express it over and over and over again. “I just love this.” and this is “probably” my absolute favorite.” again and again and again…

So… if you have sixty-eight minutes to waste listening to a middle aged white dude cream his shorts about the shop/creative space he’s created. click play on the video. If your short on time and want to pass - it’s cool. The whole thing turned out way longer than I thought it might…

either way - please find some peace tonight.

Love Derek
